The Castle of Angers
Real jewel of the medieval architecture...
At the heart of the city of Angers, raises itself the Castle of Angers.
Giant of tufa and slates, one of the medieval fortresses the best the kept by France account 17 towers and 25 000m ² of surface.
Inside the castle, hides the pleasant residence of Dukes d' Anjou, compound of buildings of Gothic time, of gardens and even some vine stocks.
On a dominant rocky promotoire Maine, the fortress shelters the unique weaved work of the Apocalypse commanded in 1375 by Louis 1st of Anjou.
The hanging, the monumental decoration, illustrates the Apocalypse in 6 parts and 74 paintings on red and blue collections.
